Last night was such a memorable one. It’s Friday and I arrived home a few minutes past 8. We are on a very tight budget these days so he told me to just cook pancit for dinner (the left over noodles and carrots from the CNY celebration). He arrived a little bit earlier than the usual Friday nights because he’s got to catch the MRT (does not have enough penny to pay for cab fare though reimbursable). We were watching Small Soldiers while having dinner and after that I offered him a facial treatment and massage. It’s pampering time! It’s been quite a while since the last time we did this kind of bonding, we were not yet married then. It felt good to be doing it again for him, especially now that we’re already married. After that, we had our every night before going to bed “reading session” – The One Year Love Language Minute Devotional by Gary Chapman. He reads it aloud while I’m listening, he explains, we discuss and sometimes argue but making sure it’s a healthy argument then read the short prayer included in the daily reading. We are both ready to sleep, we hugged and cuddle and then I don’t know how it all started, a short conversation before going to sleep has led to a very long but really good conversation about the past (his past relationship – how it all started, grew and ended, our relationship – how it all started and grew, a little confession on how he really felt for me but had to hold back and hide, “kilig ako”), the present (how we both feel now that we have each other, room for improvement, plans for our church wedding, how and what he wants me to learn, etc.) and future (kids, family, etc.). We didn’t even notice the time, think we slept at around 3-4 in the morning. It’s all worth it! It was the first time that we had a conversation (again) that long, this time as husband and wife. Before he fall into sleep, he whispered “mahal na mahal kita” & “I love you” like he was joking but I know deep in my heart how he really meant every word. I fell into tears with so much happiness (he didn’t noticed – lights are off). God knows, how much I really love this person…
Thank you Lord for the opportunity and time that we shared last night until the wee hour today. May You continue to bless both of us and our marriage. May You bless all our plans and make our dreams come true.
